Vacation: New Orleans

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

Missguided Peace + Love Dress $216 (Got it on sale 40% off!)

If you follow me on Snapchat or check my Instagram stories, you probably noticed I was in Nola last weekend. That means you also had noticed the amazing breakfast I ate every day. Every. single. day.

This was my second time visiting New Orleans, and despite what you hear, I think it's an amazing place. The southern food is delicious, the antique buildings are beautiful, it's haunted history is fascinating, and the people take such pride in their city.

With that being said, here were my top favorite things to do in Nola! (and what I wore of course)

1) Bourbon Street

Yes, this was obvious. If you travel to New Orleans, you must go to Bourbon Street at least one of the nights, if not all. It may look gross and smell like the sewer, but it happens to be tons of fun. There are endless bars and places to go with different atmospheres and drink specials. You're almost guaranteed to find the perfect place for you. Just make sure you give yourself a day or two to recover when you get back from vacation.

Nordstrom Top: It's from years ago! Was around $30.

If you find yourself here, check out my two favorite bars the Krazy Korner for great live music and The Beach for an awesome time.

2) St. Charles Streetcar Line

If you have an hour or two to kill, I highly recommend jumping on the streetcar and taking the St. Charles line. You will see a whole different side of the Nola you don't hear about. There are beautiful plantation houses, college campuses, great bars and places to eat, and Audubon Park/Zoo. Make sure you bring a camera fully charged and hop on from Canal St. as early as possible to avoid having to stand.

3) Jackson Square

Right behind the church where touchdown Jesus resides (sounds strange but this is what they call the statue) is Jackson Square. You will see tons of street performers here doing exactly what they do best. You may not realize, but street performers are a huge part of New Orleans culture. Magicians, psychics, artists, you name it are surrounding Jackson Square throughout the daytime. It's a must see on your way to Cafe Du Monde to discover the hidden talents of the many New Orleans street performs and to also see the work of many talented artists.

4) Wander

....To an extent. Surrounding Bourbon Street are several small shops. These small businesses sell anything from clothing to vintage items, antiques, handmade crafts, you name it. I could have spent hours getting lost going from shop to shop, discovering amazing and unique pieces. If you are looking for a one of a kind souvenir, I guarantee you will find something for everyone.

Top: Shein $11

Bottoms: LF $45 on from the sale

Belt: Nordstrom Rack $15

5) Cafe Du Monde and The Ruby Slipper

Food in Nola is SO GOOD. But if you have to know where I ate every single day, it's these two restaurants. Cafe Du Monde is a signature New Orleans coffee shop. This is where they serve Nola's most famous beignets that are so delicious and fluffy it will leave you begging for more. The Ruby Slipper Cafe was hands down my favorite breakfast place. If you go, you must try the Eggs Benedict Cochon. I really couldn't tell you what Cochon is besides pulled pork marinated in some sort of magical mixture, but it is beyond amazing. Hence why I ate it every single day of my trip and even bought a T-Shirt. Do yourself a favor and also order the candied bacon.... you're welcome.

6) The Roosevelt

Bottoms: Shein $13

Fishnet Socks: LF $15

This is where we stayed during our trip to Nola, and it was absolutely stunning. I highly recommend checking out this hotel where you will be greeted by amazing staff members, you can see the beautiful decorations, and eat at great restaurants like Domenica.

The End :)
