Fall Favorites

Updated: Dec 19, 2019

It's crazy to think that we are almost completely through October already. This means, holiday season is approaching before we know it along with the colder weather and snow (hopefully) and I could not be happier. I mean... who doesn't enjoy Halloween, Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Years, and the Pillsbury cookies that tag along with them?

I’ve noticed myself shifting towards certain trends, patterns, and products during this fall. In no particular order, here are some of my favorite things for this season.

Trends:

1) Pearls

Have you walked into a store this season and noticed everything you grab has pearls on it? I challenge you to go into a Zara and see how quickly it takes you to find something... my record time is 3 seconds.

The pearl practically replaces the stud trend, which in my eyes is genius. It’s not as harsh and adds a feminine flare to things like combat boots, blazers, and other typically masculine items.

My go to has been skirts with pearl buttons,

tops with pearl details, and boots.

2) Tweed

This season, I can admit that I am indeed addicted to tweed. Anything with this Chanel-esque look finds itself a home in my closet. When classy meets trendy with a tweed detail, it ends up being extremely appealing to me.

My favorite tweed items this season would have to be jackets/coats, skirts, and tops with slight details and patchwork.

3) Navy

It is very rare for me to wear too much color, I like to play it safe and usually stick to neutrals. I’ll branch out here and there, but his season I find myself wearing Navy. You might not realize it, but Navy is everywhere. Mainly because it can be extremely hard to diferentiate navy from black in store lighting.

My favorite navy items would have to be shoes including navy velvet, navy sweaters and tops, and navy accent pieces.

4) Belts

I have never been a belt kind of person until this year. It’s an easy accessory to dress up a simple outfit, and it always looks good.

Not those belts with the double buckles, those are out, but more so the dainty skinny belts. Just like the infamous Gucci belt everyone has... including myself.

5) Small and Subtle Round Studs

Have you seen those really tiny round studs this season? Sometimes they almost create a boarder on certain pieces. Those are the studs I’m talking about. Not the square bulky studs from last season.

This is the perfect way to still wear studs without overdoing it. For me, this applies for practically everything. From handbags to sunglasses, shoes, booties, skirts, dresses, tops, etc. This trend just works.

6) Cabby Hats

I’m not typically a hat person either, but this seems to be the best accessory for Fall. Adding this to any outfit completes the entire look and pulls all of the fall elements together. The pictures speak for themselves.

Products

1) Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

I HATE pimples, just like every normal person out there, but this stuff is some kind of magic. Ever take your makeup off after a long day only to realize exactly why you put it on in the first place? Apply a tiny bit with a Q-Tip on a pimple right before you go to sleep and you will wake up feeling way better about the unwanted breakouts making you feel 13 again. Make sure NOT to shake the bottle even though you will have the urge to do so... weird, I know.

I highly recommend buying the spray and drying lotion combo to save some money and get two great products.

You can find this from Ulta for $22.00 here

2) L’Oréal Telescopic

I’m not sure why I just recently discovered this but I’m so happy I did. This mascara is hands down the best (and cheapest) mascara I have ever purchased. Not only does it make my lashes extremely long, but it also doesn’t clump them together. I wish I would have stumbled upon this a while ago because it would have saved me from spending way too much money on Chanel and Dior mascaras that did absolutely nothing for me.

Buy at Target or any drugstore for $8.00 here

3) Kylie Lip Gloss

For the longest time I refused to buy anything besides Colourpop liquid lipsticks. They are $6.00 a piece and so similar to the Kylie Lip Kits priced at $30.00, so I never had the urge to buy them. A little while back Kylie ran a BOGO sale, so I decided to purchase a lip gloss and matte lip kit. Safe to say I am now addicted.

Although Colourpop and Kylie are very similar (made in the same factory), I find my self really liking her lip gloss which is extremely unusual for me because I am more of a matte person. This is better for winter anyways because it’s not as drying. It’s also easy to apply and not as harsh as a matte lip. I would highly recommend Candy K gloss to anyone with light/medium skin tones looking for a easy pinkish nude color.

Sold out currently but was available on her website for $15 here

4) Invisibobble Hair Ties

So the first time I saw these I thought they were those things for your house keys that nobody ever uses. Turns out they are hands down the best hair ties I’ve ever used. These barely make any dent in my hair and they don’t pull it out leaving me with a headache either.

I’m the type of person that breaks hair ties constantly and these are extremely durable. I bought 6 of them (two packs of 3), and I’m still using the same one for over a month. I also can’t stand when my hair tie gets wet and sits on my wrist all day which doesn’t happen with these since they are non-soaking. If you don’t own these I highly recommend going out and buying them today.

Get them from Sephora for $8.00 here
